At first glance, we thought the guy in this picture was probably from a new indie rock band but on closer inspection we were shocked to discover that it's actually former Downton Abbey stud Dan Stevens!
Dan, who's best known for playing the late Matthew Crawley in the ITV period drama, showed off his new look in LA and, try as we might, we just can't get used to it.
The actor's transformation coincides with his new role in the movie A Walk Among The Tombstones, which he is set to star in alongside Hollywood heavy-weight Liam Neeson.

Health should far outweigh the money she will be making for her film. It is suicidal to go to these lengths just for fame and fortune. She will be lucky if she has not created an eating disorder for herself after the film. As Mr Norman Burke said below, there are many girls who are suffering from this debilitating illness through no fault of their own, surely some are actresses. I wish your daughter well Mr Burke.

Surely with modern film technology the gaunt thin look can be achieved without starving yourself.
My beautiful 18 year old daughter for the past five years has suffered with the debilitating illness anorexia and nearly died this year.Being very bright and passing 10 'O' levels with A star+. Perhaps
a film director could consider my daughter for a role as with respect to Antonia Campbell Hughes my daughter is equally if not more beautiful albeit suffering greatly.

I did not think that the girl who was held captive was that thin according to the pictures that were released, maybe the actress has gone too far?
She was 10 when kidnapped, so maybe the reason for the weight loss, but given the story around the film which sounds more like a porn movie maybe just as well using a twenty plus actress.
Looking at all the pictures you begin to understand why so many of these people end up with either eating, drug, drink or mental problems

He really does look ill. Saw pictures of him a couple of months ago prior to this and thought there was something wrong with him, nothing like the physique he had and in films like Saraha. I hope he is alright and it really is just loss of weight for a film role.

That does not appear to be simply weight loss for a film, it looks like she has an eating disorder and she looks dangerously ill. Look at her dark, sunken eyes and loss of muscle due to starvation. If you web search this actress, she appears very thin well before any mention of this film role. Sad and shocking. I really hope your daughter gets well, Norman Burke.

Nothing shocks me here . It is an actors requirement to loose and put on weight randomly and when expected to look real in the movie.It is there trade after all..and a very well paid one. If you were paid a few million for being the lead in a movie wouldn't you do the same.?. I would without any hesitation...It would be my aim in life to make all that lovely money for my family and me..Don't call it greed it is just taking advantage of the situation.. However it just shows how different they look with no fat and fat added to their faces.. I would not have recognised Charlene Theron as Aileen, the serial killer. As Aileen she looks like a normal wife walking through my local. Just shows what a difference a few pounds gained makes one look.. It's quite scary really....But it is refreshing as well to know that we all look rough without the help of cosmetics and great hairstylists.. Oh and daily help to control our waistlines and fitness instructors...Now all that means a lot of money which the common man really cannot afford...

And yet there are plenty of actors who didn't go through these extremes and did much better in their roles. The audience is willing to enable that old suspension of believe when watching a movie, they will forgive a lot of things because the acting is so good, and most will not give two hoots if someone bulked up lost weight etc Interestingly a lot of the actors noted here are crap, and only get jobs due to some past crappy film they were in.
