Katy Perry Skype chat: the highlights
"We're gonna shut the internet down!" said Katy when she arrived on the set of our live Skype chat that connected her with some of her biggest fans around the world. And she almost did...

Katy was in town to celebrate her personal new documentary movie, Part Of Me. Here are the questions from Katy's fans, and her answers, as they happened!
Mariana Furini (who has a Katy Perry tattoo on her chest!), 18, Brazil asked - "Part Of Me is also the name of one of your songs. Why did you decide on this name for the movie?"
"I decided the name for the movie to be Part Of Me because it's exactly what this film is. It's an exclusive, all-access part of me, almost like you're on tour with me all of last year. Maybe, like you're one of the dancers, one of the crew, you're on the road with me! It's appropriate with the song. You can't take this away from me, this part of me, my music, my fans. You see this especially in Brazil: you guys were all very excited and I didn't wanna let you down!! Now... WASH THAT TATTOO OFF!"

Toni Relja, 16, Cologne, Germany asked - "In the trailer for the film I see fans going on stage, how do you pick them and what do you love about having them on stage with you?"
"I pick fans based on their enthusiasm, based on what they're wearing. My fans like to dress up in all costumes, like edible costumes! There's been a hotdog on stage many times with me. You see that in the movie. I pick them depending on how fun they are, they're great mascots when they're having fun. Especially when Dance With Somebody comes on during the tour, that is more towards the end, and so I've seen all the people and their reactions. I'm always looking for a connection with my fans."

Katy Perry reveals her inspirational women to MSN fans
Lauren Christian, 16, Liverpool, England asked - "The tagline for your movie is 'Be yourself and you can be anything'. Who inspired you growing up?"
"There's a few girls that really inspired me. I'm really girl-power friendly. I guess the most important ones for me would be Alanis Morrisette, I talk about her [in the movie] and how she inspired me. Gwen Stefani from No Doubt. Wonderwoman! People like that. My sister, honestly, I wouldn't be here without her for many reasons. Not just because she's gotten me through anything. When I was really young, she's two years older than me, she's in the movie, I wanted to do everything she did. She used to wear these ratted out bangs. She was the first person that came home with a demo of her singing one summer, I was like 'I want a demo too'... but I actually had talent. JUST KIDDING! My sister will hate me for that!"
Sammy Matacena, 18, Naples, Italy asked - "What's your favourite part of the film and what did you most enjoy about making it?"
"My perfume? Oh! My movie! That darn Italian accent! My favourite part of the movie, you get to see all of my friends and family, I've talked about them for so long so I'm excited for you to see the characters I surround myself with."
Anna Beatriz Raposo, 18, Brazil asked - "Katy, you are a powerful woman, but if you could choose one superpower what would it be?"
"A superpower!? Well I guess, selfishly for me, it'd be able to have an invisible cloak so I could go to Starbucks. I NEVER get to do that anymore. But I don't wanna be selfish with one wish. If I got one wish I'd ask for a million wishes!"

Suvi Palonen, 18, Vassa, Finland asked - "Have you always believed in yourself and that your dreams would come true?"
"Yeh. In a very strange way. I have always believed I could make my dreams come true. I knew it wasn't always coming to ME. I had to work really hard at it, but I was born with a lot of ambition and drive. I see the world as my oyster, I can make things come to reality if I want. In history you see it, so why can't you do it for you? I come from Santa Barbara and I didn't come from any money, I didn't have a connection to anyone, it's all about going and getting it for yourself and making it happen.
Rani Moens & Darlene Van Corenbergh, both 15, Brussels, Belgium - "Why did you never give up?"
"What stopped me never giving up? I think I looked into the music industry and to all the people that were successful and I saw that nobody had taken MY spot yet. I felt I still had something fresh to offer my point of view was not exactly like this this or this artist. Everyone is original in their own way but I thought there was still something left to be said with my music. People came close. I LOVED Lily Allen when she came out, she was unique and special and so was Alanis Morrisette, especially with Jagged Little Pill. But when I went for it I felt there wasn't somebody representing the females at that moment."

'When I look back on myself, I look crazy!'
Anne Sarah, 16, Norway asked - "What did you learn about yourself while making the movie?"
"I guess when I saw it back I look... crazy?! No I mean, I'm so glad I made the tour fun. Because you see us stopping off at different places, we'd have a day off and rent a waterpark, I'd invite all of my friends on tour to come and experience it. The next day we'd have a show and we'd have something to say about their city! I actually went out there and experienced your city."
