Now here’s something the Academy can embrace more confidently: a movie about Hollywood saving the day. Ben Affleck’s third directorial outing is a zippy true-life thriller about US citizens being smuggled out of Iran by a brave CIA agent posing as a movie-maker. Affleck’s likely to be recognised in the Director category and this is currently a popular favourite for Best Picture.
