In 1945, at the age of 17, Shirley Temple married 24-year-old actor John Agar, co-star with John Wayne in Sands of Iwo Jima and Fort Apache, and later star of B-movie fare such as The Mole People and Hand of Death. The marriage lasted five years. After the divorce, Shirley Temple gained custody of their daughter, Linda Susan (born 1948), and reverted to her maiden name.
