Her stunning performance in A Dangerous Method goes to prove what we've been saying all along. Keira Knightley is an outstanding actress who is horribly underrated.

"Over the top", "amateurish"... just a few of the words applied to Keira Knightley's performance in A Dangerous Method, the otherwise acclaimed period drama about psychoanalysis and sex, starring Keira, Michael Fassbender (Carl Jung) and Viggo Mortensen (Sigmund Freud).

It's not the first time critics have clamoured to call Miss Knightley names - it seems to have become fashionable to express dislike for one of Britain's most successful actresses. We think it's about time to give Keira credit where credit's due and celebrate six of her most underrated performances.

I think she is one of the most wooden actors on screen how she gets the work she does is a mystery when there are far superior young actors looking for work.

I saw this film recently and I also thought her performance was a little OTT.  But then there was a true story behind this and considering that the film revololves around psychology, I reckon they had some extensive notes about her character's behaviour.  Maybe the woman's mannerisms were OTT too?

I don't think she's any better or worse than most actresses these days.  But she's not half as talented as the wonderful Anna Maxwell Martin, and she doesn't get anywhere near the same amount of roles.  Doesn't make sense.

The only thing I can fault is the black hole but that was due to the character's personality.

Im wondering how it  can be an underated performance if she got nominated for an Oscar? What classes as being rated, actually winning?
Besides at least theres one person who doesnt underate her, and thats herself. As a person she comes across as an ungrateful drip who is forever whining about the downfalls of fame yet stripping off at the drop of a hat. Go eat a burger and cheer up love

jealously has nothing to do with it. This is a debating forum allowing people to express their opinion. We are all qualified by experience and our preferences to offer a comment on this or any other subject. If Keira's acting makes you happy then good for you....enjoy your evening :-)

Im wondering what qualifications her (jealous?) critics have with these vindictive comments? She would not have been cast in the amount of award winning movies if she was not a good actress! She has been credited with amazing performances in The Duchess and Pride & Prejudice, and for her comic portrayals alongside Jonny Depp in the Pirate movies! I hope we see more of her :)

Tinkerbell (pinkice): You avoid watching anything she's in and yet you are able to categorically state that she can't act.  Wow, are you a psychic movie critic or something?  Have you any idea how ridiculous that sounds.  Maybe just maybe if you watched some of her movies you might realise how wrong you've been.  The words arrogant, judgemental, and prejudiced spring inexpicably to mind!

it must be terrible to be jealousy and envois of some one like Kieran she is a fantastic actress love her films absolutely fantastic in pirates of the Caribbean she just looks amazing  just grow up the lot of you  jealousy will get you now where she is one of Britons amazingly great actresses so grow up and get a life she is brilliant go miss knightly .

she's awful. terrible in pirates and equally as wooden in pride and prejudice. has her moments but not a fan at all.

i think kiera knightly is amazing. i watched her the dutches and she was really good i love oldie things brought back to life thing. it was really good. i think kiera knightly is a really good role model (in drama) loved all the movies she has done  especially pirates of the carribien.

Its not Keira's fault if you are unable to connect to her most magnificent performances, it's yours. One day you will slip and impale yourself on your sharp words.

To her critics she's got a few more bob in the bank from her performances than you!

Very over rated I'm afraid. Wooden facial expressions and often seems to be forcing her acting. Her Pride and Prejudice was a terrible version of a classic story. She really needs to go back to acting school and learn how to think a feeling as opposed to trying to contort her face into a feeling...a woefully bad actress....

keira knightley is an amazing actress and for anyine who has ever called her names you should be ashamed of yourself

1) i have read pride and prejudice and i belived that she really was Lizzie Bennet

 

2) in princess of thieves she was almost robin hood and she portrayed her part not amazingly but super/great/excellen​tly
