Spidey was given a live action series on US network CBS in 1977, with Nicholas Hammond (above) in the role of Peter Parker. The series was a relative success in terms of ratings, but CBS cancelled it in 1978 because - as they were already airing Wonder Woman and the Incredible Hulk - they feared they'd gain a reputation as the 'superhero network'.
