I hope anyone who downloaded the Hulk, Transformers or Avatar got a nasty virus from them. Those three don't deserve to be here and the Departed should be much more popular than that!

The departed wasn't as good as I was hoping it to be as it's a Re-write of A three part Korean Trilogy called ' Infernal Affairs ' These were of much higher quality and i recommend anyone who liked Departed, go watch the true originals.

I guess this is also a decent way of showing the popularity of certain movies, therefore why would Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean) not be impressed with the 14m downloads?

damn i missed some good downloads, straight on to piratebay.org haha !! don't forget to use your free peer block, them pesky trackers trying to get your ISP address. if the big boys made downloading movies more reasonable more people would buy it ? they have the technology why do they not use it to stop people copying the dvd's and you can get the programmes FOC to rip and burn.

Some more useless statistis:
8 out of 10 owners said their cats prefered Blu-Ray rips.

Avatar is such a good film after seeing a pirated copy i just have to own a legal copy when it comes out on blue ray in 3D, pirated copies can also be a good advertisement for the legal copy.

It's a shame some of the best movies are the ones illegally downloaded, they deserve the money. Things like Transformers though...yeah I wouldn't pay for that either.

And how many people download then go onto buy the film either on dvd or blu ray? no statics for that is there?
How many of those downloads are redownloads?
How many of those downloads are by countries that are not allowed the film?
How many of those downloads are by people who cant afford the dvd (ever heard of region 5?)
the box office always manages to recoup the cost of the films, pay its actors / staff and make a profit, you just have to look at the box office numbers and figures they like to shout out about.
Half the trailers show the best bits nowadays and do not really show the film for what it is, i like to try before i buy, does that make me a bad person?

sorry to correct you, but the film industry released details some time ago to suggest that downloader's are the biggest group of purchasers of "genuine product" also the same is true of Music downloader's.
It serves little purpose for keep complaining about illegal downloading. Both film and music industry are heavily involved in the manufacture and supply of PC's and peripheral hardware used for the purpose of downloading and piracy. In fact without piracy they would lose many millions in revenue. Think about those companies and their products: ie AOL invested in TIME (computers) & Warner (Films & Music) Sony (computers (CD / DVD)
What about video recorders that everyone grew up with? Download of films / music from TV, now dvd recorders do the same. Who manufactures these if not the same people who complain about illegal copies?
A new way of marketing the film & Music products is required. Google stream illegal films and sell advertising around the downloads. Was it not "Pirates" that made the modern music possible? Radio Caroline and others forced the BBC to abandon stiff upper lip broadcasting in favour of Radio 1. Those same tunes from then are now being sold to downloader's without payment of copyright because the law dictates intellectual copyrights expire at 40 years and now the music companies are cashing in by the same method taught to them by illegal downloader's.
So, film and Music industries, stop bleating and change the way you market to meet the needs of the customers. Accept reality and change your ways

Considering the ridiculous cinema costs and £20 for a dvd it's no wonder people are downloading. I watched Avatar for free (legally), rented the Hangover from Lovefilm, and bought Inception on dvd for cheap after it had been out a while. Tbh thought all of them were rubbish, glad that I hadn't paid £7.50 + transport to go to the cinema. If they want people to pay the full price then introduce a level of quality so you know you won't be ripped off - I watched The Grey yesterday and there were about 7 trailers before it came on, you could tell all of them were really low grade films. American remake of a Uruguyan horror film, 2 all action, no thought war films, one awful looking film about the presidents daughter being kidnapped and taken into a prison camp in space with seemingly only Scottish prisoners and two really cheap humour comedy films.

Why do they assume that if a film has been downloaded 18million times, that every one of those people would have bought it if file sharing was banned world wide 
I usually see it on tv rather than part with my hard earned cash, and at £20 for a DVD/BLUE RAY
