Friends, colleagues, co-stars and fans have collectively expressed their sadness at the death of actor Michael Clarke Duncan, who passed away at 54.
Tom Hanks, who co-starred with Michael Clarke Duncan, told reporters, "I am terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike. He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic. He was a big love of a man and his passing leaves us stunned."

the green mile is one of the finest films ever made, michael duncan was awesome in it, this is a massive loss for the film industry. there are actors and then there are people like michael, a star!. god bless his memory and his family.

This is a very sad day for family and fans alike, the man truely was the gentle giant. But what I find sadder is the idiots who give a thumbs down to the out porings of genuine fans. Racist? film critics ? idiots? You have truely nothing to say so just leave.

He was a big big guy, but with a big big heart. He was wonderful in The Green Mile. His voice was so recogniseable ! My thoughts go out to his family.

I saw him in the Green Mile he was brilliant, and in films since. Although he was a big man he looked so gentle. He will be missed by his family and defiantly the film industry , so very sad and so young.

He just seemed such a nice guy, off all the articles about him no one has a bad word to say about him.... not bad for someone in the film industry, Tom Hanks said nice things, but then you would expect that of a gentleman...and Oliver, your blog of 35 minutes ago... you should be ashamed by your remarks

This man was a remarkable man I never new him yet I watched him in the green mile and he played a role which was beautiful gentle and moving. Further I've watched him in Sin City and a spider man movie, I think what ever he was a very creative and talented actor, Had presence
