Battleship: movie trailer

Wow! They're not taking it easy for a second in this one. Hasbro's produce appears to have inspired the same level of mayhem here as it has in the Transformers franchise. Here are the standout moments:

1.02: Blammo! New footage of the alien watercraft opening up. It doesn't seem too happy! "That's not good..."

1.05: Rihanna starts her movie career with a sterling "What the hell is that!?" Nice gun.

1.30: Our first look at a cybertronic alien beastie in a killer mechanical suit.

1.57: Plot reveal. It looks like the aliens put up a forcefield around their mothership and our man Taylor Kitsch and crew are the only humans inside it. "We're goin' in..."

2.13: Hold on a sec! That alien sound effect was very very Transformers.

Based on Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

Battleship is released on 20 April 2012.
