Star Trek Into Darkness might just be the most exciting blockbuster prospect of the year.
Having re-energised the Star Trek franchise in 2009, director JJ Abrams is going bigger and better with the sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. Chris Pine (Captain Kirk, right) is going up against Benedict Cumberbatch (playing the villain widely rumoured to be the Star Trek character Khan) in the 3D sci-fi spectacular.

Looks awesome, I hope the 3D novelty doesn't ruin the movie like it usually does with blockbusters who use it in excess and unnaturally. This could be the best star trek film of all time if they do it right!

Please forget the 3D already, it is making me wait until movies are on DVD before I see them due to stupid cinemas only wanting to show 3D. The only way 3D will work is when we have total immersion ala holodecks etc. Until then, it is annoying, it gives one a headache, and when we don't get the choice you're more likely to ignore the film until it is released through DVD etc.
Otherwise great the film is coming out, but I'll have to wait for it on DVD.

I thought Cumberbatch was Gary Mitchell....which would make sense considering he is wearing a starfleet uniform. He's not magnificent enought to play Khan....sorry Benedict.

well i agree with daz a lot of people have not so good eyes or colour blind or even only one good eye so 3d is out,i love star trek so why not leave it as it is,i think its a bit over the top and a wast of money so realy cant wait for the dvd to come out.

Have been a fan of this franchise since for ever. Many of its predictions are now taken for granted, like automatic open doors, talk to a PC (Siri). We cannot still have warp speed and time travel...just wait and see...it will come but probably not in my lifetiem
