The Thing stills

I had a chance to see a preview screening of this and enjoyed it immensely. To allay your fears Mr Miller, there is absolutely no Hollywood romance, the creature is suitably malevolent and disgusting, the effects are great, the characters are believable and not in the least bit showy (there are no "action heroes" here) and yes, the movie ends where Carpenter's begins; 2 Norwegians in a helicopter chasing a husky towards an American base. I'm a massive fan of the original (it'd probably be in my top 10....maybe 20, films) and I thoroughly enjoyed this - it's very much in keeping with the style and vision of the original (80's) version, much to the director's credit. I think it's been given unfairly harsh reviews so maybe, like Carpenter's original, it will find it's true home on video. Sorry, Blu-Ray; we're not in the 80's anymore.....!

the film does end with the guys in helicopter chasing a husky you have to watch a little into the credits then you see the sequence.

all in all i found the film quite good and the monsters many forms interesting not as good as carpenters but not bad i dont feel this one conveys the feeling of being trapped and no where to run

Wasn't The Thing based upon an old film called Who goes There ?

How can this be a prequel to the John Carpenter 'original'? The original was released back in the 50s (I think. It could have been late 40s). And if it is a prequel to the John Carpenter version then it should end with members of this research team flying after an infected husky in a helicopter and then cue the John Carpenter version. But, knowing Hollywood, get ready for loads of unnecssary explosions, a lame love story, poor script and so on.
