The Avengers 2 will 'dig deeper'

Sorry Batman. Avengers Assemble was unquestionably the biggest film event of this year. And following a monster box office performance, work on the sequel is already underway as we head towards a 2015 release. What do we know about Avengers 2 then? Director Joss Whedon, who scored vast success with the first movie, has just told us that Avengers 2 will 'dig a little deeper'.

"The creation of the team is not the happy ending," he told Canadian radio station Vancouver 24 hrs. "It is the beginning of something that is complex and difficult, and now I get to dig a little deeper. And maybe, while I'm digging, just twist that knife. And that's exciting for me."

"It's still in the story stage. But I've been working on it pretty much from about an hour before I said, 'Let's make a deal'. It just caught fire with me. We're hard at work. We would like to be not as rushed as we were with the first one."
