Fans who stuck around for the now mandatory post credits tease at the end of Avengers Assemble will no doubt have spotted the familiar purple-tinged features of Thanos. For the uninitiated Thanos is one of the Avengers' fiercest foes, a godlike member of a superhuman alien race who is as brilliant as he is brutal and will prove more of a challenge than Loki. The short snippet was more than enough to suggest that it was he who was pulling Loki's strings and if as expected he returns for the sequel, Thanos will provide a worthy adversary for the newly formed planetary protectors.
