New Dark Knight Rises still #1
This summer is all about Batman. Director Chris Nolan has been teasing us for months about the epic Dark Knight Rises, releasing snippets of footage and tantalizing pictures, like this one, to whet our appetites.
Here, Christian Bale's caped crusader is seen aiming a mystery piece of technology at an unknown target -we'll have to wait until July to find out who or what is on the other end.

Bane is physical, emotional and intellectual equal. He knows exactly what Batmans weaknesses are. He doesn't go bull at a gate and beat the crap out of Bats, he is clinical in his attacks, he places them in the exact weakspots of batman which he learns through studying him.
My belief is that this film we se Bane break the bat, but not his back like in knightfall. I believe bane will break batman's spirit, break his beliefs and break his mental state, make him doubt himself. This will see a very vulnerable Batman still reeling from the loss of the only woman he has ever loved; Rachel Dawes.
bane will break batman, but not physically. I believe that The Dark Knight Rises is the story of how Bruce rises up. Bane is trying to break the bat, because if you break the Bat your break the myth, you break the myth then you break the legend, You break the legend, you break the belief in it, and breaking the belief, Breaks the man.
Bane is highly Intelligent, If you break the perception of what Batman Stands for, You break the man behind it, because if Bane turns the City he swore to protect, the city he strived to protect then Batman has nothing but Gordon left.
remember, He took the murders which Harvey did on his shoulders. Batman is the hero gotham deserves but It didn't need. It couldnt have a faceless hero and let harvey become Two-face because all the work they did together, all the henchman and mob bosses arrested would be out in no time.
Making harvey the hero he wasn't, and batman the villain he never was, saved gotham. Thats why he was the hero they deserve but not needed; Because they needed the people off the streets and batman disgraced, not Batman being the hero and the mobs running the show again.
This time, we will see Gotham Turn against batman. This time, batman will be the hero Gotham Needs but not the one it deserves. Rising through the ashes, batman will reinstate the legend that he was before Harvey. But will it be at the cost of Bruce's mental state, admitting defeat?
Andrew Simms you must live and breathe batman, i am a fan but you are hardcore mate.
I hope it lives up to the hype trust me tom hardy will be good.
Bale really is perfect cast because he come across as someone who actually has demons in real live.
Christopher Nolan will not make the last batman a bad film, his films as a genre are superb.
Clear you have no knowledge of Batman or Nolan's envisionment and take on the franchise saying B&R's Bane is better!
Tom Hardy's Bane will be phenomenal. The mask has an internal relief which goes all the way down his spine as it is connected as a pain relief system, so im informed. Nolan is going for a hyper-realistic take on Batman as evident with Begins and Dark Knight. Batman & Robin was an utter abomination. Bane looked terrible in that film, they got his Mask right, but every single bit else of the character was wrong.
Hardy's bane still has the hispanic take to a small extent, as Bane in the comics was from the fictional Carribean Island Santa Prisca. And before anyone says anything, Hispanic is a local language of jamaica although not the most common association, but Puerto Rico and the Dominican are in the Carribean.
The film will indeed hinge on Catwoman and Hathaway's performance. I for one am wary about the casting choice, but in Nolan I trust.
you will have to wait and see how hardy acts in the fim before passing judgement mate
I think the film will transcend the others in term of story, Tom Hardey could be on par with Ledger (and dont moan) and im quiet afraid that Miss Hathaway could ruin it, but time and opinion will see. At the end of the day it will still be one of the great trilogies
@John
I loved Batman since i was 4, when the Animated series by Paul Dini started. Read every legends of the Dark Knight comic books, all 216 isues, along with year one, Hush etc.
The Long Halloween and Dark Victory by Loeb and Sale started because the Haunted Knight book, were actually yearly issues in The Legends of the Dark Knight series. The origin story 'Shaman' heavily influenced Batman Begins. Id reccomend buying them, I got 58 issues of ebay for merely £35. Realy first print bargains. Also has famous stories like Gothic, Venom, Prey, Cold Case etc.
@ John Jones
Batman has never been a superhero, he doesn't have super powers which is why he is so popular. It is a normal man who creates himself as a legend to instill fear into the hearts of the criminals which took his parents life.
Also, ever noticed how Batman is human? He fights his enemies, but he still pleas with them to change. Batman creates the enemies he fights mostly. Just look at how he fights solomon grundy in Long Halloween. They day after, he leaves him a roast dinner for thanksgiving, because Solomon isn't evil, none of them are clear-cut evil villains. Each enemy of Batman is piece of him, but gone onto a downward spiral. Victor Freeze's loss of his beloved Nora turned him into a criminal to try and resucitate her. Joker is the epitomy of everything Batman is against, but they can share a joke together and know the routine. Edward Nigma is a reflection of the wrong use of extreme intelligence which batman shares. Bane is the complete opposite in belief but matches every other aspect of Batman.
Batman was never a super hero. He was a lawless vigilante doing what is required to save Gotham from both the criminals and corrupt system introduced into Gotham. If anything, he is an anti-hero which the police begrudgingly work alongside with.
Ridicule a man in a batsuit with the latest technology, armourments and protection all you want, Its still the greatest stories ever told.
And whoever said there too many Batman films, well, this will be the 7th. So thats one more than Star Wars. There loads of Star Trek films, theres loads of Friday the 13th or Nightmare on elm streets. But i bet you dont complain about those, no?
nice one mate, i use to live in wollaton
@ Jamie
Yeah, I live just outside notts in Mansfield.
Its actually Wayne Manor, and theres a flashback with Bruce at his parent's burial =]
Kawser;
'The Batman' had nothing to do with Batman Begins. The tumbler was designed before the end of 2004, which is when the cartoon came out. The Tumbler was designed in 2003 by Nathan Crowley and Chris Nolan.
None of the films Nolan has made have references to those cartoons, they came out after the first film wrapped pre-production. The source materials used in Begins and TDK are;
Begins;
Batman; Year One
legends of the dark Knight Issues 1-5 'shaman' origin story
Batman; The man who Falls
Batman: The Long Halloween
Batman: The Man who laughs
TDK:
Batman issue #1 from 1940
heavy inspiration from The Killing Joke by Ledger
Heavy inspiration from The Long Halloween regarding Harvey Dent, his origin and the mob
The Man who laughs
Dark Victory
Batman: Dark Detective
Nolan took elements from his favourite comic books and used element to create his own take. IE, in batman begins, the ending shows Gordon giving Batman a Joker card; Thats from the man who laughs. Long halloween is a heavy influence with regards to the Mob and how they operate in Gotham.
Year one heavily influences the corruption of the Gotham Police Department in both BB and TDK. Nothing from 'The Batman' is in these films.
So we'll never see Nolan's take on the Riddler? Doubt that.
So, when do we get to see the Justice League????? After all, Avengers is almost officially released.
The bat films Nolan has made refer a lot to "The Batman" animated series, after all the tank like bat-mobile is from that series and other such things, the only bad thing is that this batman does not have that sawwger in the animation or the same fighting skills as he is too slow and not acrobatic and agile and yet he learnt ninjutsu and every martial art known to man but i guess the story makes up for it.
