The Magnificent Seven will ride again, and again. The iconic 1960 western directed by John Sturges has already spawned three sequels and even a TV series, but now it looks like it will be the latest iconic adventure to be fed into the remake machine.
If reports are to be believed, MGM are throwing a truckload of money at the movie, hiring a gaggle of A-list actors along the way. They have big boots to fill however, so join us on the casting couch as we try to imagine a modern day septuplet that will be every bit as magnificent as the originals.

The Magnificent Seven is an iconic film - IT DOESN'T NEED OR WANT A REMAKE!
NO WAY is Tom Cruise or Matt Damon gonna be as good as Yul Brynner or Steve McQueen!!!

Leave well alone, the original cast are what you call great Actors, and no matter who you put in the role, they could never live up to the legends....:-)

The Magnificent Seven was itself a remake of the film The Seven Samurai. Having said that, who today, could replace any of the original brillient cast?

tom cruise to play yul brynners part,,yeah right he will have to grow another 2 feet and stop super imposing pictures of his stuntmen and pretending its him for a start, one big headed midget with the personality of a knat,not in mr brynners league and never will be,

It's quite pathetic remaking films when there are original screen plays and books etc that are excellent and haven't been made into films yet.
Not a big fan of cruise myself and find the idea of him playing a role played by yul brynner similar to joe pasquale playing one of clint eastwoods cowboy roles.

As good as the cast goes for the re-make of this film, and they are a top bunch, they will never better the original ! I mean Steve McQueen......come on !!

Nobody can replace the old Magnificent Seven - stop making cheap re-runs of excellent films, just show us the originals, or try getting someone to write something new that is actually worthwhile. Nothing compares to the old box office classics. You may say you are throwing a truckload of money at a remake, but why - cant they think of something new.

Please get the clothing and leather work correct, none of those 'Hollywood' holsters hanging down to their knees!

How lazy and arrogant are they in Hollywood to even think of remaking these classic films. Not one has been better or even as good as the original! Have Hollywood run out of talented original script writers? Maybe they should stop being so lazy and put some time, effort, and money into making some original films!!
