Wow... how can all of you lot hate on these people? are you just blind or stupid? these people may be rich, and have a great life, but that doesnt mean there bad. They are just doing their job which is acting. Yes, unfortunetly there are others out there unlucky, who are suffering, but you need to understand that is LIFE. most people chose to go down that road by taking drugs or not getting off their back side and working. they rely on strangers to support them and thats plain stupid! they need to wake the **** up, and make something out of their OWN LIFE. i can understand the people in africa and the wars need our help, i back and support that fully, but as far as the others go, they can just **** off. these awards are just a dedication to those who make film and entertainment for people like YOU. without them we wouldnt be able to watch any films or go cinema, and some are even based on true stories so we can get an understanding of the outside world too. There job is real HARD, and id love to see one of you lot try to do what they do. If your not gonna support or write nothing nice down, then dont bother at all, because you have no right to hate on normal people, who just do what they love. END OF.

The presenters should get an award for all that fake enthusiasm they show when opening the envelopes.

BTW to all actors/actresses we don't need to hear all that about how you love your wife, your kids, your dog, your partner etc. That is a given and like the constant expressing of love in American life is mostly fake anyway.

What a pile of horse dung.  Billy Crystal got it only slightly wrong with this quote " Its more than just millionaires giving each other golden statuettes "

All he had to do was leave out the two words  " more than "

Cool off. It's only an American award. There are 180 countries in the world with their own awards.
I find it pathetic that Christopher Plummer who is British saying he was practicing for an Oscar speech since he was born. He should say that about his country's BAFTAs.
Who cares about an American award??

No air time for the real heroes who are involved in real human drama on a daily basis, not for them the click of the camera or the glitz ;in fact there is no award ceremony pending. No acting for these people-life for them is a reality looking after the sick etc.

Their tears are shed silently - their efforts hidden in humility.

That picture of Billy Crystal just about sums up the Oscars. Bit surprised Gareth Bale didn't get a late nomination following his performance in the penalty area yesterday afternoon!

Sorry Bo, there was me thinking we had a choice over what we read, MSN is clearly entertaiment based, there are other sources for if you want to read up on politics, may i ask why you reading material from MSN MOVIES if all you care about is people in war?? I'll tell why, because your a hater, you can't let other people who work long hours read up on entertainment and have a little escape from the world, im sorry that i would rather not spend every waking free minute dawning on the terrors, but that doesnt mean i do not care!

I don't get any of these award ceremonies whether its music, film or tv. After all these artistes are paid good money to do a job, so why should they be given an ego boost by receiving an award for it.?

The whole industry is built on make believe and fantasy and these plastic people live out the fantasy daily.....

Give half of them a pick and shovel and make them do a decent days work,or make the divas cook a meal,I bet half of them don't even know where the kitchen is in their own house..

Sacha Baron Cohen is brilliant. Can't wait for his come back. Meryl Streep deserved the award she's probably one of the best actresses around. Octavia Spencer in -The Help- was great loved that film I also believe that Viola Davis should of got an oscar for her role. Smile

Michelle Williams and Viola Davis were robbed.  Michelle needed no make-up for her role of Marilyn as she worked right into the very soul of the character and was beguiling and Viola was mesmerising in such a difficult part.  Meryl Streep was such a safe bet but 5 hours in make-up and impersonation is not a reason to be awarded the prize.  Very safe, very predictable. Over the moon about Christopher Plummer and Octavia, though.

Christopher Plummer is such a gracious speaker; he should get an award every month just to hear his thank you speech. Moreover he should have been knighted long ago as he probably deserves it more than many other recipients.
