Ben Affleck is in talks to star in a new Prohibition-era movie.

The Argo star is also thinking about writing and directing Live By Night, according to Deadline.

The film will be adapted from a book by Dennis Lehane, which is set in Boston and follows a man who betrays his police officer father and becomes a career criminal.

Ben, 40, is a fan of the author and launched his directing career by taking the reins on 2007's Gone Baby Gone, which was based on Lehane's novel.

Earlier this year there were reports that Leonardo DiCaprio was linked to the film. The Departed star is tipped to be a producer on the project, sparking speculation that he is also set for a starring role.

It wouldn't be the first time that 37-year-old Leo has starred in a Lehane adaptation, as he previously appeared in Shutter Island.
