Gael Garcia Bernal could be starring alongside Matthew McConaughey in The Dallas Buyer's Club.
Matthew will play a Texan electrician diagnosed with Aids who smuggles alternative drugs into the US to help himself and fellow patients in the film, based on a true story.
The Motorcycle Diaries star Gael would play an Aids victim who meets Matthew's character in hospital, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Oscar-winner Hilary Swank had been set to star in the movie, but has apparently since pulled out.
Filming is expected to start in New Orleans next month.
Meanwhile, Gael is receiving acclaim for his performance in No, Chile's entry for the Foreign Language Oscar.
