Butler signs up for Dynamo movie

Gerard Butler has reportedly signed up to star in a new movie about a landmark football match.

The 300 actor is set to play a goalie in Dynamo, about the game that took place between an occupied Ukrainian soccer team and their Nazi captors during World War II, reports Deadline.

The film will be based on Andy Dougan's book about what is known as "The Death Match", titled Dynamo: Defending The Honour Of Kiev.

Gerard's character Nikolai Trusevich was the goalie who served as a leader for his team, and ultimately inspired the Ukrainian city of Kiev.

So far it isn't known who will direct the movie, which is due to start shooting next year.
