Caine and Freeman: We still got it

Michael Caine would like to play a cop alongside Morgan Freeman
Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman would like to play the leads in a cop comedy together.
The pair - who appear together in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies and upcoming crime thriller Now You See Me, about magicians who use illusions to rob banks - may both be in their 70s, but they are still overflowing with enthusiasm for their work.
Morgan said: "I'm amazed at the stuff I get to do now. I just did a romantic part with Virginia Madsen (in The Magic Of Belle Isle). I mean, I didn't know it was romantic, but it was. It did turn out that way. And I'm just like, hey, life isn't over yet."
He and Michael, 79, jokingly came up with an idea for a film in which they could both star. They'd like to play two retired cops who team back up to crack their last big case, and grapple with new technology along the way.
Morgan, 75, said: "Just off the top of my head, two retired detectives."
"Yeah," Michael added. "Two retired detectives. That would be great, wouldn't it? And a case came up, and everybody let it go by, and these two old guys said, wait a minute... remember when we were 35?..."
Morgan chipped in: "We wouldn't ever let up on that case ..."
Michael went on: "And then they would get back into it, and then you could have a great deal of comedy with us trying to work out computers and how to get information..."
The pair joked that their screen cops could try out new technology by hunting down leads on Google and Facebook.
"Actually, we would be very funny together," Michael added.
