Russell Crowe's Noah movie has been delayed as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

The Gladiator star and Harry Potter actress Emma Watson have been busy filming director Darren Aronofsky's epic - about the consequences of a colossal biblical storm - but the movie is now facing delays as a result of this week's "superstorm" in the US.

According to reports, one of the reasons production in Long Island, New York, was halted was to protect the huge ark which has been built for the film. Two boats have been made for the flick - one is on a soundstage but the other resides in the water in Oyster Bay, New York.

Emma wrote on Twitter: "I take it that the irony of a massive storm holding up the production of Noah is not lost (on) Darren Aronofsky (and) Russell Crowe."

Russell, who plays the title role in the film, tweeted: "Sitting in a Hurricane, just like any another day... I'll wait to see what blows in with the wind."

The film also stars Sir Anthony Hopkins and Jennifer Connelly.
