Director Rupert Wyatt is reportedly no longer working on the next Planet Of The Apes film
Rupert Wyatt is reported to have quit Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes sequel Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.
Deadline reported that the director has decided to pass on making the follow-up to his CGI box office blockbuster starring James Franco, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis because he is not comfortable with the May 2014 release date that studio Fox announced in May this year.
This is claimed to be the same reason Gary Ross has stepped down from directing Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire.
Fox declined to comment.
Lord Of The Rings star Andy Serkis has already been hired to work on the Apes sequel in his capacity as a performance capture expert, a service he has also provided on The Hobbit.
Meanwhile, Rupert is attached to direct Agent 13 with Charlize Theron.
He previously had to pass on the the opportunity to direct Londongrad, which had Michael Fassbender attached to play Alexander Litvinenko, the former KGB spy who was poisoned in 2006, because he was committed to Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.
