Dungeons and Dragons film in works
Jeremy Irons starred in a previous film version of Dungeons and Dragons
Warner Bros is set to release a new film based on the classic fantasy game Dungeons and Dragons.
A movie adaptation of the cult hit was previously made in 2000 starring Jeremy Irons, but did not perform well at the box office.
Now, according to Deadline, Warner studios are quite far along in developing a new big screen version.
They have recently acquired the rights to the role-play game but are already working from a script called Chainmail, bought last year and based on an obscure game by Dungeons and Dragons designer Gary Gygax.
Chainmail was written by David Leslie Johnson, who also penned Wrath Of The Titans and Red Riding Hood.
Warner Bros are apparently treating the film as a big priority, with fantasy adventures such as Game Of Thrones and The Hobbit being so popular with audiences.
Since its launch in 1974, Dungeons and Dragons has earned more than one billion dollars from books and merchandise.
The original game was very lo-fi in comparison to modern computer games but the film is thought to be getting a reboot for a new generation.
It will be produced by Roy Lee and Courtney Solomon, who also directed the previous Dungeons and Dragons film.
