Emma Stone has admitted she had some reservations about signing up for the new Spider-Man movie.

The Friends With Benefits actress will portray the web-slinger's love interest Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man but confessed she had some worries about how starring in a blockbuster franchise would change her life.

Emma - who was a relative newcomer when she bagged the role - told Access Hollywood that in the end she was inspired by fellow actress Jennifer Lawrence, who also took on a massive series by signing up to play Katniss in The Hunger Games.

She said: "I love Jennifer Lawrence and I watched a lot of her interviews for Hunger Games - it was kind of the same thing she was feeling.

"What scared me was the idea of, 'What could happen to my life after doing something like this?'."

The 23-year-old - whose real life boyfriend Andrew Garfield stars as Spidey in the upcoming movie - added: "But the part and the process outweighed that fear.

"It felt like a stupid reason to not be part of this - what might happen [and] how [my] life could change didn't feel like enough of a reason to not play Gwen, not to get to be involved with this and not to get to act with Andrew or to get to tell the story in a different way."
