Selena Gomez has admitted she struggled to get into character for her new movie Hotel Transylvania.

The former Disney actress plays Mavis, the daughter of Dracula in the animated film, which also stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Cee Lo Green and comedienne Fran Drescher.

At the movie's premiere in Los Angeles, she revealed: "I found it kind of hard to get into character with just my voice, so it was a little weird."

But Selena - who was wearing a figure-hugging white dress with metal detailing - added: "It's a really funny script. When Adam mentioned my name of course I was completely flattered and honoured, and to be honest probably would have done it regardless.

"But when I read the script that's when I completely fell in love with it and I was like, 'Ok, I think this is really cute, I'd love to be a part of it'."

Selena - the other half of pop superstar Justin Bieber - said she didn't give any musical advice to Adam and Andy for their songs in the movie.

"No I didn't have any singing tips, are you kidding me? It's Adam and Andy, they're amazing at what they do so they needed no tips," she said.
