Hardy: All that glitters isn't gold

Tom Hardy says he realises that all that glitters isn't gold
Tom Hardy has revealed he's "already crazy enough" without all the glitz and glamour of stardom.
The British actor is at the Cannes Film Festival promoting his Prohibition-era gangster movie Lawless, and admitted that he enjoyed feeling famous as he walked down the red carpet - if only briefly.
He said: "I saw what it meant to be a movie star for a second and I quite liked it. Then I went, 'Nah! Let's go back to work'."
Tom said he could see the addictiveness of such glamour.
But the 34-year-old - who dealt with alcoholism and drug addiction in his 20s - added: "I like shiny things, but all that glitters isn't gold.
"There's nothing that comes without cost. I've got enough cost in my life. I've got enough risk going on. I'm already crazy enough."
The actor, who has a son, said when he is working he has "this discipline" and gets meaning from it.
"It gives me purpose," he said. "And then I can turn to my little boy and say, 'Daddy does something. And I do it well. I may not be the best, but I'm the best that I can be. Now eat your f****** greens'."
Tom's movies include Warrior and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and he will soon be seen as the villain Bane in Christopher Nolan's eagerly anticipated Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.
