Hathaway for Robopocalypse movie?

Anne Hathaway could be starring in Steven Spielberg's upcoming sci-fi film Robopocalypse.

The Dark Knight Rises actress is Spielberg's top choice for female lead in the robot uprising epic, Deadline reported.

Thor heartthrob Chris Hemsworth is also set to star in the movie, which has been adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard, based on the novel of the same name by Daniel H Wilson.

Soon-to-be outgoing Fox chief Tom Rothman has just been announced as producer, with principal photography set to begin in early 2013 and a release date expected in April 2014.

Tom said in a statement: "If you are in politics, you dream of a call from the White House, in baseball, from the Yankees, in movies, from Steven Spielberg.

"Robopocalypse is the kind of important epic entertainment, a big movie with big ideas, that Steven does better than any filmmaker on earth."

Anne has finished shooting Les Miserables, in which she plays tragic heroine Fantine.
