Knightley rejects lessons in love

Keira Knightley didn't learn any lessons in love from her alter-ego Anna Karenina - but she did sometimes take her work home with her, she has revealed.

Following failed long-term romances with model James Dornan and actor Rupert Friend, the star recently got engaged to Klaxons keyboardist James Righton.

But asked if she'd learnt anything about romance from starring in Leo Tolstoy's epic romance, she replied: "God no!... Far too bleak, no, better to ignore the whole thing I think."

The actress said it would have been "very difficult" to turn down Anna Karenina, directed by Joe Wright, because "she's a huge female role".

But she admitted that she did sometimes fail to leave her character behind, when she left the movie set.

"She did definitely come home on a couple of occasions and I don't think I was the easiest person to live with when I was playing her," she said.

"But that's part of the experience of playing a character like that."
