Lynch: Ralph a meaningful movie

Jane Lynch has insisted new animation Wreck-It Ralph actually has an inspiring message about taking risks in life.

The Disney adventure tells the story of video game villain Ralph, who is fed-up of his role destroying things all day, so decides to jump arcade games in search of happiness in life.

Jane said at the world premiere of the film in Los Angeles: "I think it's about being stuck in your life and feeling like you need a change, which Ralph does. He's the bad guy, he doesn't want to do it any more and nobody respects him.

"So he takes a chance and he jumps his game and he goes to other worlds and he ends up meeting Vanellope, who is a person just like him. They get each other, they end up loving each other.

"It's about taking a risk and shaking things up for yourself."

Ralph is voiced by John C Reilly and racer Vanellope is voiced by Sarah Silverman.

Glee star Jane voices Sergeant Calhoun, the lead character of Heroes Duty, who Ralph meets on his travels. It is revealed Sergeant Calhou';s heart was broken when her husband was killed by Cy-Bugs on her wedding day, so now she is devoted to patrolling and killing Cy-Bugs.

Jane explained why she was attracted to the role: "This tough as nails person who's hiding this heart of gold, who's been through so much and it's not going to be easy for her to love again. But somebody comes along and opens up her heart."
