Murray: No Oscar optimism for me
Bill Murray said he isn't getting his hopes up for an Oscar
Bill Murray has revealed he has learned not to get his hopes up over any Oscars speculation.
The 61-year-old Lost In Translation star lost out to Sean Penn in the best actor Oscar category in 2003, and buzz is building around his performance as Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Roger Michell's comic drama Hyde Park On Hudson.
"You can't get all ramped up and amped up about this thing all the time," he said at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"I got excited about it once, and it was odd. I won literally all the prizes all the way up to the last one. And I really thought, 'I've just to go get this thing, I'll be right back'.
"And then I didn't win, and I thought, 'Well, that's odd. How odd is that? I'm feeling so odd now.' And I came all dressed up and didn't win. So I'm not going to get all crazy about that."
Bill said he didn't mind not winning: "It was OK that I didn't win, and I don't have any hard feelings about it. It was like, 'OK, that was cool, I'm fine.
"I'm fine with the way my career's gone. I'm happy with it. It's gone great. The great thing about the Oscars that's cool is it means people are going to see your movie. That's really the deal."
Olivia Colman, Laura Linney, Olivia Williams and Samuel West also star in Hyde Park On Hudson, which is out on December 7 in the UK.
