O'Connell reveals crush on Smith

Jack O'Connell has revealed he has the hots for his Tower Block co-star Sheridan Smith.

The former Skins actor described the Gavin And Stacey actress as "a babe" after he worked alongside her in James Nunn and Ronnie Thompson's gritty British thriller.

"She's a right babe, ain't she? She's a right wonder. It's the first time I've worked with Sheridan," he said.

The 22-year-old then joked about making a move on the single star, saying: "I heard that she fancies me on Twitter. I ain't asked her yet, I might make a move. Might as well try my luck. It's now or never - and I'm in my prime now."

Jack - who is set to star in the upcoming 300 sequel - admitted that he decided to take the Tower Block role on a whim. He had been working part-time on a farm and was desperate to act again.

"This isn't a massive career move for me, but it's a role that I've enjoyed playing. I want to vary my work. I want to play everything, so for the time being, it's just a case of developing a CV, a healthy enough one that can hold its head up high for any audition that I go for," he explained.

"There are certain jobs I'm feeling a bit exempt from still, so it's not until I've worked with more people that say enough positive things about me that I will be taken seriously in big-budget jobs. As long as I'm making the right choices for the right reasons, I hope to have a pretty lengthy career. That's the most I'm asking for."
