Olsen enjoys awkward screen romance
Elizabeth Olsen enjoyed her part in a proper romance movie
Elizabeth Olsen has revealed how pleased she was to make her first "proper romance" movie, although the love scenes are awkward..
The 23-year-old actress stars in Josh Radnor's quirky romcom Liberal Arts as an infatuated student, but later this year appears opposite Jessica Lange, Tom Felton and Oscar Isaac in the film adaptation of French novel Therese Raquin.
Elizabeth plays Therese, a young girl forced into a loveless marriage by an oppressive mother-in-law, who kills her husband to be with her lover, only to be haunted by his ghost.
Elizabeth said: "It's my first proper romance, that I've got to do. I haven't really properly had a romance. So that's a bizarre thing on it's own and kind of awkward.
"But it's a great affair story that goes totally wrong and I get to go head-to-head in certain scenes with Jessica Lange which was the most amazing thing to get to work with her."
The Martha Marcy May Marlene star is also about to begin work on Spike Lee's remake of cult thriller Old Boy.
But she insisted it will be very different to the original Korean film.
She said: "There are certain things in the original that we accept because it's a foreign culture. Where as when you bring it into Western culture there are certain devices that you can't use.
"My character is completely different form the character in the original so I don't feel I have to remake someone's performance, which is really nice.
"But it's definitely going to be different."
