Pegg planning tribute facial hair
Simon Pegg is planning a third film to follow Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz
Simon Pegg has joked he may grow a long beard for his portrayal of Scotty in Star Trek 2.
The Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol star said he would consider growing a moustache in tribute to James Doohan, who played spaceship engineer Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott in the original TV show.
Simon said: "Never say never. I love James Doohan's Scotty. He's a tough act to follow because he owns that role. When you think of Scotty, you think of him. I have to make my own in his honour.
"Maybe I'll grow a really long beard."
But he refused to give anything away about the plot of JJ Abrams sequel, co-starring Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Simon said: "My lips are sealed."
But the Spaced star did reveal the sequel to his comedy films Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz will be set in a different universe.
He said: "We like to move on and try new things rather than rehash old ideas.
"World's End which is the third film in the series I have created with Edgar Wright is a sequel to both Shaun and Fuzz in both style and tone but with all new characters and in a different universe. It definitely makes the three films a trilogy though."
:: Simon stars in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol released on DVD on April 30 2012. Available to pre-order now.
