Sean Penn is in talks to return to the director's chair for survival drama Crazy For The Storm.
The Oscar-winning actor made his directorial debut with The Indian Runner in 1991 and last directed the critically acclaimed Into The Wild in 2007.
Crazy For The Storm is based on the memoirs of Norman Ollestad. He was brought up by his sports fanatic father, but resented being taught the activities his father loved. Aged 11 he was the sole survivor of a plane crash in the San Gabriel mountains, which killed his father and his father's girlfriend.
Norman had to rely on all the skills his father had taught him to make his way back to civilisation alive.
Sean would direct but not star in the film, Variety reports.
Warner Bros has apparently been trying for some time to bring the actor on board the project.
