Twilight's Lutz in Cannabis role?

Kellan Lutz is in talks to join indie film Kid Cannabis.

The 27-year-old actor - best known as vampire Emmett Cullen in the Twilight films - would join Jonathan Daniel Brown in the movie, which is based on a Rolling Stone article telling the true story of an impoverished high school drop-out who built a multi million-dollar drugs empire.

The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev is also in negotiations to join director John Stockwell's movie but has to work out scheduling conflicts before she can sign on the dotted line, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

Jonathan is set to play a teenager who gets his friends to smuggle marijuana from Canada to Idaho, where he lives. Things take a bad turn when the authorities start snooping around.

Kellan would play his best friend, and Nina would play the love interest of Kellan's character.

Kellan has been busy lining up work, as earlier this month it was reported he had signed up to play the lead role in Tarzan 3D.
