West to produce Red Necklace film

Dominic West has revealed his plans to produce The Red Necklace - for one of his daughters.

The Wire star, who has two daughters, has been hoping to bring Sally Gardner's children's historical novel to the big screen since 2010, but now wants to make it a reality.

"I've just finished the second season of a BBC drama called The Hour, which is about the BBC in the 50s. We shot all that and finished a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm working on a children's film which I'm hoping to produce," he said.

"It's called The Red Necklace and it was a book that my daughter really loved and now I'm trying to make a film out of it."

Dominic - who recently starred in sci-fi adventure John Carter - took the plunge fully clothed at the Swimstock fundraiser in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care in London.

He was joined by filmmaker Louis Theroux, TV presenter Penny Smith and British swimmers Duncan Goodhew, Steve Parry and Karen Pickering for the Blooming Great Zorbing Tea Party at the Park Club in East Acton.

"Swimming's all I do now actually. I used to play a bit of football, and I do a bit of triathlon, but swimming is my main thing because it's the easiest. The older you get, the easier it is for your joints," Dominic explained.
